About Us

The Bensax Music Academy is an online music school founded by Mr. Richardson Estimable (Bensax International) and led by Dr. Sheelah Franck. The academy is built to train and inspire many students to become remarkable musicians around the world.

Mr. Richardson Estimable also known as Bensax International, is an accomplished Saxophonist, performer, formidable composer, arranger, multi-talented musician who has already made an important contribution to the world of Latin American Christian Gospel Music. He is also the most well-known saxophonist that Haïti has ever produced, often featured on the Radio and Television there. He has performed for the former Haitian President, Joseph Michel Martelly in 2015 in Haïti. 

Mr. Estimable has played internationally in large and small venues, particularly in the Caribbean, Latin, and North America. To date, he has composed and released two amazing albums on the saxophone (June 2012 & May 2017). The first one, “Let the Sax worship the King” was voted the best instrumental album of 2012 in Haïti in its genre.

Mr. Estimable has earned prestigious musical recognition in the U.S. at the 2013 Annual International Convention of the Country Gospel Music Association in October 2013. He has celebrated as the best instrumentalist of the year, he was awarded with a Golden Heart Award and a Silver Award. He also performed at the International Federation of Youth Conquerors in West Palm Beach, Florida in November 2013.

Mr. Estimable has also performed for the prestigious Miss Universe Haïti contest in 2017 in Haïti. From an early age, music played a prominent role in his life. His parents recognized his musical talents and passion, enrolling him in formal musical studies at the age of twelve. From 1998 to 2006 he studied at the Evangelical Orchestra Mitspa Brass Band of Saint Louis Du Nord, Haiti. Although he specializes in the saxophone, Bensax International also plays the Trumpet, Piano, Bass Guitar, Drum, Tromborne, French Horn, Tuba, and more. At the age of 14, Bensax was recognizedd as one the most talented trumpet player in the history of his Orchestra (the Evangelical Mitspa Brass Band of Saint Louis Du Nord, Haïti. Subsequently, he continued his studies at the Musical Conservatory at the Christian University of North Haïti/ UCNH! and then worked for four years as a full time orchestra leader at the “Lully Le Florentin Orchestra Brass Band also in Saint Louis Du Nord, Haïti.  From 2002 – 2006 where he had the opportunity to train, lead, and mentor, many young musicians in his home town and across the entire country of Haiti. Afterwards, Bensax took his talents abroad to the Bahamas where he worked as a church worship music minister, trainer and director in 2008.

The International saxophone player has recently made a very remarkable impact in Hollywood, Los Angeles California represented prestigiously his country Haiti on the stage of one of the most notable TV show in the world, “America’s Got Talent” in the United States.

The response was so intense he realized it is time to share his gift with the youth around the world by launching a worldwide musical platform called the Bensax Music Academy (BMA) so that he can pass on his gift. “Music is what I am. Everything else is what I do”, said Bensax.

Dr. Sheelah Franck is the current President of the Bensax Music Academy (BMA). She is sharing the leadership role with Mr. Richardson Estimable (Bensax International).

Born in Queens, New York, and lived in Port- au- Prince, Haiti until year 1997, Dr. Franck lived in South Florida most of her life. During her middle school and high school education, she committed her free time to extracurricular activities such as ballet, modern dance, cross-country running, basketball, and debate teams. She received her Bachelor’s degree in “Politics” from Regis University in Denver, Colorado in December 2006 and her Masters of Business Administration at the University of Phoenix in December 2009. Dr. Franck later received her Doctor of Education degree in Higher Education Leadership from Nova Southeastern University in June 2018. Her Dissertation focused on the perspective of academic advisors and students regarding education pathways in broad career occupations.

Shortly after receiving her bachelor’s degree, she began her professional career teaching Reading at Stranahan High school, her former high school. Dr. Franck has also taught Reading at Boyd H. Anderson High school and at Crystal Lake Community Middle. Teaching Reading was only a part of her professional Experience. She was known to have multiple dance teams both at the recreational level and competitive level winning 1st and 2nd place in county dance competitions. She has also led and advised the National Junior Honor Society chapter at Crystal Lake Community Middle school for 3 consecutive years, 2012-2015, bringing the school to County Secretary officer status. Additionally, in 2010-2011 school year, Dr. Franck sponsored the Women of Tomorrow club at Boyd H. Anderson High and exposed many young ladies to academic scholarships, college campuses, employment opportunities, social, and dinning etiquette sessions. Last but not least, Dr. Franck sponsored the Boyd H. Anderson’s step team which was recognized as an outstanding team by other schools during local performances in 2011.

Besides leading the Bensax Music Academy, Dr. Franck also serves as a Senior Specialist in Career Technical Education specifically for the aviation programs at Broward college. As an educator, she recently began developing aviation courses for professors and has shared her expertise and services in various committees such as the Academic Advising Council, Strategic Planning committee, Scholarship committee, and the Emerging Leaders Group.

Dr. Franck lives in Coral Springs, Florida. Her hobbies include ballroom dancing, traveling, reading, and attending professional music and dance performances.

Wenzy Demar is a Haitian guitar player who was Born in 1985. Ever since he was a teenager, he has been fascinated by the guitar.

He started playing at age 15 with the help of his big brother who is a professional musician. Ever since, he has developed a strong passion for music. He is well known for having played for a number of gospel artists, and churches in Haiti. He has toured with the most famous Haitian gospel singers in Haïti with such artists as Delly Benson, James Smith Alcindor, Peterson St Dick, just to name a few.

Mr. Demar has also had the opportunity to perform with the international Haitian saxophonist Bensax in Haiti.  Mr. Demar is currently playing for Church on the Rock, a Mega church in Port-au-Prince, Haïti.

 

In 1989, Mrs. Penelope (Penny) J. BUHR was certified to teach the full program of Music for Young Children by Francis Balodis LTD. In 2014, she opened Penny‘s Studio, Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada. She taught Fiddle, Ukulele, beginner guitar, piano all levels, voice, and a rhythm program “SUNRISE“ for toddlers and parents.

Mrs. Penny has played the violin since she was 12 years old. At that time she was presented with the Heritage family violin (handcrafted in France over 100 years ago). She studied Royal Conservatory to grade 5 violin, the piano Royal Conservatory grade 10, and Theory – Grade 2 achieved excellence with distinction.

Additionally, she has had an original song “He Knows My Name“ receive a nomination in the Canadian GMA 2012. She has directed children’s choirs, written and directed an original musical production “The Lion Sleeps Tonight“. Lastly written a musical Christmas play for children “A Star Shone Bright”.

Mrs. Penny has devoted her life to music, songwriting and became an International Award Winning recording artist in the CGMA.: 2009 through 2016-songwriting, instrumentalist, female vocalist, entertainer, performer, lyricist, reciter, children’s ministries.

 

Mr. Romulus Jonathan Junior was born in Cap-Haitian, Haiti, on October 4, 1983. He started to play music, precisely the recorder and the alto saxophone, at the age of 14 years at the brass band of the Collège Pratique du Nord. A few years later, he learned to play the classical piano and then practice vocal music.

Mr. Jonathan graduated in fine arts and music (composition, arrangement and performance). He also has Master degree in Leadership and Development at the Christian University of the North of Haiti.

Additionally, he is responsible for cultural, musical and artistic affairs in several schools in Cap-Haitien, particularly the Collège Pratique du Nord. He is also a professor at the Christian University of Northern Haiti and the State University of Haiti.

Mr. Jonathan Junior is passionate about research, creativity, music, and teaching.

Mr. Chenet is a passionate and experienced musician with several years of experience in choirs, church, and concert performances. He is a skilled piano player, adept at writing and arranging music. He is experienced in digital composition and recording processes. Mr. Chenet is bringing forth a self-motivated attitude and a lifelong love and commitment to music.

 Mr. Dieujuste began to sing at the age of 4 with his dad as a Mentor.  Over the years he cultivated music as a second life and began to win numerous prizes in various competitions in which he took part. 

So little by little he becomes the darling of his hometown.  He won “Nwèl lakay” in 2005, Starmax favorite finalist in 2009, Digicel Stars champion in 2011, HGMA champion in 2012 in the Dominican Republic, Hollywood 2018 (song and video) champion in the United States.  He followed training on vocal techniques with Coach Stevenson Theodore Paup, as well as with coach Bertrand Lamarre (French).  This founder of setvoice, a technical school in his hometown (Gonaives). 

Professional musician and vocalist Rod Ume remains a living icon and role model for many young people who want to get into music around the world.
